Yay! I blogged everyday this week! Don’t expect it in the coming weeks because I don’t usually have this much to say — okay, that anyone wants to hear.

Speaking of a lot of chatter (ha ha), this past Saturday I got together with a few fellow photographers from Red Deer and area for a mini-shoot, dinner and dancing! We had a fantastic time and hope to do it again soon!

Here are some of the beautiful ladies as they stepped out from behind the lens! (Hint: Click their names to check out their website!)

    Deanna Hall

If you don’t already know, I owe my current success to Deanna. She’s been a great mentor and friend over the past year and if you love my work, send a big thank you to her for helping me to get where I am today!

    Penny Moffitt

My fabulous lifestyle photographer friend from Lacombe!

    Nichole Drevenak

My spunky friend capturing Innisfail families’ moments and memories!

    Jennifer Swenson

My amazingly talented friend and one of the nicest people you will ever meet!

    Alison Gaine

My fun, hardworking, wedding photography friend!

    Behind the Scenes

    .a little change. {stettler photographer}

    Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

    First, a couple of reminders:

    1. If you’re one of the people leaving your Fall Mini-Session booking to the last minute, get on it! ha ha
Half the spots are gone already and you will want to ensure you get the time that works best for your family!
      Book now!
    2. Brides: Less than 2 weeks left to book your 2011 Wedding at the 2010 Prices! Contact me for details and to reserve your date!
    3. I have only one more date open for regular sessions in September and October dates are filling quickly. Newborn sessions will be fit into the schedule shortly after Birth Day, but they must be pre-booked using your Due Date. You can view the Zimmermann Photography Schedule at anytime on the website.

Now, a mini-announcement that may upset you; but don’t worry, we’re all going to be okay:

    No more Sneak Peeks.

I’ve decided that I’d like to save the first look of our clients’ sessions for them. The build up of anticipation may darn near kill a client but having the first look at an entire gallery at once will be a great pay off — trust me!

Don’t worry, blog readers — you will still get to view some of my favourite images from the sessions but not until after a client has viewed their gallery and ordered the ones they love the most! That means there may be a short period where the blog isn’t updated while we wait to get on the other side of the sessions.

I hope I didn’t disappoint anyone too much and will try to keep your entertained as best as I can during this change.

If you’re new to the blog, then you won’t recognize this little princess that is so special to me! Her name is Madelyn (Maddie to those close to her) and she’s graced the blog with her hospital mini-session and her newborn session.

This past weekend, we celebrated Madelyn’s birth and showered her mom and her with gifts! (If you need a baby shower gift idea, check out the gift what we got her.) Here’s just a couple images from her big party!

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to….

Beautiful decorations, loving friends and family, Babycakes Cupcakes (yum!) and a hand-made Raggedy-Ann doll.

I started my photography business over a year ago and since then, it’s been quite the ride. I’ve met many new, fabulous people. I’ve learned to diplomatically stand my ground with the not-so-fabulous people. I’ve discovered many supporters — friends – I didn’t know I had. I’ve endured criticism and judgment from ‘supporters’ I thought I had. I’ve learned to believe in myself.

    I’ve worked HARD.

I have worked extra hard over the past 4 months in pursuit of a goal. The goal was to purchase a new camera body with accessories. The 2 a.m. editing, weekend sessions and template-boycott have paid off and the day my family and I have been working towards has finally arrived.

Meet [name to be determined], my new d700.

Thank you so much to all my fantastic clients and friends for your support. Thank you very much to Deanna Hall, Penny Moffitt, Nichole Drevenak and all the other photogs that have given me advice and helped me learn. Most of all, thank you to Kyle, Carter & Tucker for being patient and coming along this journey with me.

Stay tuned for more fabulous images brought to you by the dynamic duo: Melissa & D700.

*Quick Reminder: Don’t miss out on your fall mini-session spot!
There are only a few left! Reserve Now!*

    Monday, August 16th, 2010

Over the weekend, I headed over to Red Deer for the ‘official’ newborn session for Miss Madelyn. If you missed her hospital session and the story of my relationship with her momma, check it out here.

Here’s the gorgeous little Maddie, again, and if you love the photos, leave some love in the comments!

Maddie’s ‘sisters’ have welcomed her with open paws and love her even when she’s not in the best of moods!

    .products. {stettler photographer}

    Friday, August 13th, 2010

I’ve actually been remembering to take photos of products as I receive them for clients (and sometimes myself! tee hee) so I thought I’d post a few to show!

Message me today if you’d like to learn more about the prints and products and to book a session for YOUR family! melissa@zimsphoto.com

First up: Some products from Miss Taylor’s Grad Session.

    Clockwise from top left:
Rep Cards – Fun new product that helps grads stay in touch after school ends!
Packaging – The beautiful packaging your prints and products come in (finished with tissue paper inside)
Cards – Front & Back of a Press Printed Thank You Card, totally custom designed
Book – 5×5, charcoal leather press printed book, open to show the hinged pages (they lay right flat, too!)
    Book – Front Cover
    Card – Large Image

And this is my new 20×24 Gallery Wrap! I’m in love with it — almost. After seeing it on the wall, I wish I had gotten it nearly twice as big. You just don’t realize how small they look until they’re on the wall! (I know, I know.) But it’s still manufactured beautifully and with a few additions, it now has a special place on our wall.

(Sorry for the crappy photo of the Gallery Wrap)

    Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

This weekend, we had the opportunity to go camping with a great group of friends! Of course, I packed my camera first and since everyone knows what a shutter-bug I am, there was no resistance when I brought it out. Today’s post (and tomorrow’s) are a peak at our fun weekend!

First up is baby Briggs — remember him here:

Here he is at 5 months!

    .In my friend, I find a second self. – Isabel Norton. {stettler newborn photographer}

    Thursday, August 5th, 2010

When we moved to Stettler, my very first friend was Lisa. She was 3, I was 6 and our moms quickly became close friends. Between the two of us girls, Lisa’s older brother and my two younger ones, there were 5 of us all with in a 5 year age span and we were all inseperable during our younger years.

I have memories of picking dandelions and making ‘fly-houses’ with Lisa. Memories of her brother and mine playing guns and running through the neighbourhood. Memories of her mom spiking my brothers’ hair and picking me up from school when I bit through my tongue (another story for another time). Memories of Pepsi, Elvis & Benny and the Jets….

Although there were some years where Lisa and I drifted apart (age 11 and age 14 are years apart, ya know), I have always kept an eye her way and we have now become even closer over the past couple of years. And now, this girl — young woman — I have seen as my little sister for the past 18 years has become a mother and I can’t begin to express how excited I am to have our children grow up together, the way we had the opportunity too.

Here is Madelyn, the beautiful daughter of one of the most important women in my life.
